Warrior Fall Sports Wrap-Up

Boys’ Cross Country- This season, sophomore Nathaniel Beum led the boys’ cross country team with his season, as well as his personal record in the 5K with an impressive time of 19:13. Coach Heath states, “This season foreshadows a future state qualifying team for the boys. I expect that we will have a lot of the younger runners stepping up for some great times.” Seniors Tim Phelps, Nick Panzica, and Matt Kanning were all able to finish their last year with personal records at the district meet.
Girls’ Cross Country- Despite many disappointing injuries that occurred on the girls’ cross country team this year, the girls were able to stay strong and finish the season, placing 6th at the district meet. The Warrior’s top runner during the season, Ashleigh Bennett, placed 15th at districts and qualified for the regional meet for her first time. Coach Heath comments on Ashleigh, saying that she has great determination and will come up with another successful season next year.
Girls’ Soccer- The girls’ team completed the year strong, despite early season injuries that sidelined many of the starters. Since their freshman year, Anna Hranilovitch, Amber Pope, Rachel Walton, and Christa Banks have been able to stay on the same team, and now to finish their last season together. Returning letter winner and senior, Anna Hranilovitch, commented on the season: “Although this season was filled with many trials, we were able to pull together as a team and learn to put our trust in God to get us through.” The Lady Warriors finished the season with a record of 7-8-0 and expect to have a great turn out of girls playing next year.

Boys’ Soccer- The boys’ soccer team finished off with a great season despite the emotional and difficult challenges that were put in their way. The warrior boys finished with an impressive record of 15-6-1, winning the regional final game against Berlin Highland and making it to the state semi final game. Senior Bobby Condon was named first team all state and junior Eric Stevenson was named second team all state. Despite the disappointing loss in the state semi final game, the warriors are expecting another successful season next year. The boys’ soccer team is expecting many of the underclassmen to return next year, and the future upperclassmen hope to step up and be great leaders.
Tennis- The girls’ tennis team had impressive individuals placing high in the tournament. Every girl on the team this year played at sectionals, and freshman Caroline Prior made it to districts. After losing the seniors on the team this year, the girls will be rebuilding their team with the underclassmen that return next year.
Golf- The boys’ golf team had some very successful individuals this season. Senior Jordan Snyder was named first team all district as well as first team all CCL. This season he shot a 71 and a 31. Senior Jimmy Andres was named honorable mention district and second team all CCL. Jimmy shot an impressive 69 an outstanding 3 under par. The team shot a 305 placing third at the CCL tournament. The warrior golf team will expect most of the underclassmen to return next year for another successful season.

Volleyball- The lady Warrior volleyball team had a great season, finishing with a record of 13-10 and making it to district semi finals. The girls had a tough schedule but stuck together for a great season. Senior Courtney Boggs’ determination through volleyball paid off with her signing to Liberty University to play with them next year. The Warriors had a young team this year and expect to have many underclassmen returning.
