Held at Watterson High school, the match is a competition between all of the major Christian and Catholic schools in the Central Ohio area, including DeSales, St. Charles, St. Paul, Bishop Harley, Watterson, and Bishop Ready.
After a long season that began in early December, the CCL Tournament is the last official meet before Sectionals, which is a tournament involving both Christian and non-Christian schools in the Columbus area.
Ross Luckett is the coach of this year’s wrestling team, and wrestling for Worthington Christian are Nathan Deskins, Grant Dingess, Caleb Duffy, Harry Duffy, David Feusse, and Sam Isner. However, only Grant Dingess, Caleb Duffy, David Feusse, and Sam Isner were able to wrestle at the CCL Tournament on Saturday.
Coach Ross said that David wrestled extremely well on Saturday, and that he was rewarded with a 2-1 record and second place for his weight class.
The wrestling team’s newest member, Sam Isner, has worked extremely hard this year and performed very well, although he finished 0-2 at the CCL Tournament.
Grant Dingess devolved a severe case of invasive dermatophytosis (ringworm) and was unfortunately forced to withdraw from the competition.
After a successful season, having two of our wresters place at the CCL Tournament makes it clear that the wrestling team’s hard work has paid off.
