WCHS Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are important because they allow you to enjoy the sports you love and also allow you to stay in shape for school sports.
There are many other activities that you can do outside of school that can be enjoyable and fulfilling; and that don’t necessarily require you to be amazing in sports.

Luke Seiffert is a current senior at Worthington Christian High School whose primary extracurricular activity is fishing. He told me he fishes at Alum Creek. He also said he fishes at Alum Creek for Musky, Saugeye and Crappy.

Fishing is a sport that gives you time to relax, and to enjoy time spent with yourself, as well as with friends and family.

Hope Kusan and Caitlin Kusan are sophomores at WCHS who play volleyball in school as well as recreational volleyball. “Caitlin’s position is middle hitter,” Hope said, “and my position is libero.”

Nathan Dawdy, a junior at WCHS, enjoys spending time paintballing. “It is a really fun sport,” Nathan says: “I really enjoy the scenario games because it’s generally small team-based and takes quick, thought-out action.”

Blake Miller, a junior at WCHS, plays soccer for Crew Juniors--a club soccer organization. Blake told me he “enjoys playing soccer for his club team; and it’s going great.” I love playing basketball and soccer in my free time because I get to do things that keep me in shape. Playing basketball with my friends and family helps me get in shape for soccer.

Fishing allows me just to forget about everything and enjoy peace and fun spent with my family and friends. The quiet activity also allows me to enjoy the thrill of bringing up a big fish.

Sara Katula likes to be involved with horse riding; she said that she “does shows on the weekend with her family.” She also said she likes horseback riding because she “has been doing it since she was eight,” and although it takes up a lot of time, she “loves animals.”

WCHS has a lot of students doing extracurricular activities; these activities are beneficial because they allow you to express yourself even outside of school. Such activities give you a chance to try new things, as well allowing you opportunities to enhance your talents and abilities.
