There's no place like home...

“There’s no place like home for the holidays”- no matter how much people enjoy traveling during the holidays, the common idea of being home always brings warmth and comfort. Many students here at Worthington Christian enjoy the adventures of traveling across the United States and around the world during the Christmas season; yet each student agrees that being home beats the beaches of Costa Rica or the busy city of New York.

Senior Courtney Beyer is thrilled for her upcoming trip to Cayman Islands with her mom, dad, and her sister. She has been long awaiting this trip. “My family normally doesn’t go anywhere for Christmas break, but this year we are going to Cayman for a week. At first I panicked. I thought we were going to be gone for Christmas day, but thank goodness we are coming back a couple days before. I can’t imagine spending Christmas anywhere else but in the comfort of my home.” Courtney says she loves being home for Christmas for multiple reasons: “I like spending the day with my whole entire family; I love the atmosphere of my home during Christmas: and what would Christmas be without my moms fabulous cooking?”
Along with Beyers, the Helmuths enjoy a bit of traveling during the Christmas season. Tiffany Helmuth describes a vivid Christmas: her family took a week long ski trip to Vermont. “I really enjoyed going and skiing in Vermont for a week. It was nice to get away, although, it was strange being away from home for Christmas. I prefer being home for Christmas day. I consider myself a homebody. I enjoy the comfort and festiveness of my home.” Although she enjoyed the experience of skiing in Vermont, she has loved staying home for Christmas ever since. Her brother Luke does not share her opinion on being away for Christmas. He loves snowboarding and would be thrilled with a trip to Colorado during the holidays.

Amanda Keusal says she is a huge fan of being home for Christmas. “My family has a tradition of going to Akron on Christmas Eve. We visit my aunts, uncles and cousins. It’s nice to be able to see them all in one setting. We don’t get to see each other very often. There is always plenty of good home made food. With about thirty of us in a small house, there is always a high level of noise and craziness. I am so thankful that my family has been able to spend Christmas day in the familiarity of our home.” Amanda says she can’t imagine spending Christmas anywhere else but at home. “There’s no place like home for the holidays”: this statement holds true for most of the students here at Worthington Christian. No matter how much people enjoy traveling; Christmas day is not a good day to be away from home. There’s just something about being home for Christmas that adds comfort and warmth to each person’s heart.
