Nathan Dawdy, a seventeen-year-old junior at Worthington Christian, has a high level of interest in film making and plans to go far in life with this hobby in mind.Nathan enjoys paintball, playing tennis, hiking, and making films when he isn’t at school or work.
Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Ridley Scott are Nathan’s inspirational icons; and Taken is one of his favorite movies.
Andrew Kistler, Luke Condon, Brooks Hooley, and five other junior boys are involved with the film making hobby alongside Nathan. They act, direct, and even edit their films in order to create a good movie.
Every movie needs great actors, which explains why Nathan is currently in Theater II at school. A couple years ago, he was involved in plays outside of Worthington Christian, such as Captain Hook and The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Nathan knows that in order for a movie to be liked by its viewers, it needs to be well written; and to have good acting, impressive cinematography, an interesting plot line, and believable material. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the worst movie Nathan has ever seen because it had, as he would say, a dumb plot.
On the other hand, Nathan’s two favorite movies are Taken, simply because it’s cool; and the “Jason Bourne” series because of the special filming and plot. He also enjoys watching the Bourne series because of its intense action and because it’s the type of movie that “makes you stop and think.”
Nathan and his friends’ last film was titled War; this film is about the effects of propaganda on people. He says their videos usually fall into the category of “funny little spoofs.”
After acting out a movie, Nathan usually edits the scenes by himself. He recently bought a new editing software and says he’s very excited to use it.
When Nathan graduates from high school, he plans to major in communications and business. He’s looking forward to his future career and getting his films out there for everyone to view.
